Dr Alyson Macpherson MB BS (London 1991) MRCGP 
Joined the Addington StreetPractice in July 1997. Dr Macpherson was born and bred in Thanet, attending Clarendon House Grammar School. Having studied Biotechnology at the University of London, she went on to study medicine at the Royal Free Hospitalin Hampstead, graduating in 1991 following a nine week elective in Barbados. Following house jobs in St Albans and Basildon, she returned to Thanet and joined the GP Training Scheme. Completion of vocational training was followed by a short spell as a Child Health Doctor in the Whitstable area returning to General Practice as a three quarter time partner in 1997. She has since seen large changes in the Addington Street Practice culminating in the current merger with Mildmay She has recently become a GP Trainer. Her interests in the practice include finance and information technology.  
Dr M Sivakumar  

He has worked as part of the Team at Addington Street Surgery since September 2006.

 

Dr Sivakumar graduated from the University of Colombo, in 1983. He worked as surgical trainee in Sri Lanka for 5 years and came to England in 1989.

He has worked at hospitals in Romford and Kettering prior to his arrival to Thanet in 1991. He worked at the Queen Elizabeth Mother Hospital from 1991 till 1994 as part of the Surgical Team. He became Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in June 1992.  

He spent two years at Jersey General Hospital, St Helier Channel Islands from April 1994 till June 1996 as Surgical Registrar.   He was returned to Thanet as a Staff Surgeon at QEQMH in July 1996.  He had special interest in breast and Colo-rectal cancer Surgery in addition to General surgery.

 

He decided to become a General Practitioner at the beginning of the 2003 after working as Surgeon for almost 20 years and joined the Thanet GP vocational Training Scheme in August 2003. His GP registrar year was spent at East Cliff Medical Practice from August 2005 to July 2006.

Clinical Assistant and locums:  
Dr David Neden MBBS FRCGP A regular face around the surgery Dr David often does locum sessions for both teams He has supported the practice by providing doctor cover for educational afternoons in the recent merger of both surgeries. One of his functions is to visit regularly residents at Lanthorne Court and Bradstow School on behalf of Dr John Neden and Dr Michael Pick respectively.

 Dr J M Hardaker MB BS (Middlesex 1974) Was the longest standing member of the practice, having joined in 1978. After qualifying at the Middlesex hospital, he undertook vocational training in Crawleyand Thanet. His specialist clinical interest is ‘eyes’. He holds a Clinical Assistant’s post in Ophthalmology at Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital in Margate,  Dr Hardaker has announce retired in October 2005 but is a welcome sight as a regular locum doctor
